Adam's Pest Control
From 13 years on PestPac to building Blu Star, and growing from $9 million to $21 million.

The company that built Blu Star
Adam's Pest Control has grown every year for 55 years. It's a second-generation family business, with the third generation now working in it, and #54 on the 2025 PCT Top 100.
For 13 years it ran on PestPac: poor support, slow development, and customizations that cost an arm and a leg. So in 2013 Adam's started building its own software, and on March 21, 2015, it went live on Blu Star.
Collabetive Services, the company that builds Blu Star, is wholly owned by Adam's. Every feature has a pest control company to answer to.

Where they started
In 2015, Adam's was a successful regional company with about $9 million in revenue, but growth had stalled. These were the bottlenecks.
Manual scheduling
More than four hours a day spent planning routes by hand.
Inconsistent communication
Customers who weren't kept informed, and appointments that were missed.
Paper in the field
Paper tickets from the field, typed in after the fact.
No view of the field
Little visibility into where technicians were or how productive they were.
Growth meant hiring
Every step up in work needed a matching step up in staff.
Disconnected systems
The same information entered twice, in different places.
What they built, and use every day
- Blu Star: customers, scheduling and billing in one place, with Blu Star Mobile for every technician.
- Orion: laying out a month of orders used to take five hours per technician. Now it takes 4.13 minutes. See Orion
- GPSlogix: live since 2015, real-time vehicle tracking for accountability and rerouting for urgent calls. See GPSlogix
- Maxwell: instant answers to staff questions, which cut the time it takes to train someone new. See Maxwell
Growth without the overhead
In 2018 and 2019, Adam's grew by about $1 million a year without adding anyone to the office, and in 2018 it didn't add a single technician.
Today its service area is 40% larger with the same administrative staff, and it's on pace for almost $22 million in revenue in 2026.
Tia Lightner, Contact Center Manager:
“It took us 5 hours on average per tech to lay out July. To lay out November, it took 4.13 minutes — a 98.6% savings in the office. And the routes are a lot more efficient too, letting us set record production weeks with fewer technicians.”
