Route Optimisation

Orion's route map open on an office monitor

A month of routes, planned in minutes

Laying out a month of routes by hand takes hours for every technician, whether that falls to one scheduler, a whole team of them, or you once the trucks are back. And a schedule built that way still sends trucks zig-zagging across your territory, burning fuel and paid hours between stops.

Orion lays out the whole month for every technician at once. Each order lands on its best day, in the shortest driving sequence, around every rule your schedule runs on. You spend less on scheduling and less on fuel, and get more done with the people you have.

And because a month takes minutes, planning further ahead is a click away: lay out next month now, keep it as a what-if, and commit it when you're ready.

Start from the whole month

Orion starts with every order for every technician, pulled straight from Blu Star (or from your CRM) with locations, service times and time windows attached. Nobody re-keys a thing.

By hand, this is where the hours go: one technician and one day at a time, for as long as it takes.

Every order, on its best day

Then Orion weighs locations, drive times and service durations across the whole month, and places every remaining order on its best day, in the shortest driving sequence. Monthly customers stay evenly spaced from one visit to the next.

Less driving means less fuel and fewer paid hours behind the wheel. More of each day goes to service, so the same team gets more done.

Your rules go in first

Orders pinned to a date, a window, a week of the month or a day of the week stay pinned. Confirmed orders don't move. Meetings, personal days and full-day blocks are honored, and open time is held for new customers and callbacks.

Each technician's hours and start and end points are respected too, along with who should or shouldn't be sent where.

Minutes, not hours

It took us 5 hours on average per tech to lay out July. To lay out November, it took 4.13 minutes — a 98.6% savings in the office. And the routes are a lot more efficient too, letting us set record production weeks with fewer technicians.

Where it earns its keep

A month rarely goes to plan. Orion re-plans with it.

A month of pre-assigned work

Distribute each technician's orders optimally across the month.

A month already in progress

Re-optimize after weather, illness, new starts or cancellations, without starting over.

Work-pool routes

Share a set of work (vector, lawn, ants) across two or more technicians.

Unexpected time off

Move a day to another day, or hand a week's work to other technicians, and Orion fits it in efficiently.

Redividing territories

Split the work of three technicians across four, in balance.

Optimized, it's one clean loop

Orion keeps the same customers and the same commitments, and finds the shortest driving sequence between them. The same day drops to 2 hours 38 minutes behind the wheel.

Do that for every technician, every day of the month, and that's the fuel and the hours you get back.

As booked, a day zig-zags

Book each customer for the time they asked for, in the order they called, and one technician's day crosses town again and again. In this example, that's over four hours of driving.

Every extra mile is fuel you pay for, and time on the clock that isn't service.

You still make the call

Anything Orion can't route is listed and shown on the map. Place it by hand and Orion re-optimizes that day around it, showing exactly what it costs: here, six more minutes.

Every schedule is a what-if project you can review on the map, timeline and table, save, and keep working on. Commit it when you're ready, and the routes go out to your technicians.

Do more with less, with a Tru Partner™ in your corner

Hours spent laying out routes by hand, and miles driven between stops, are costs you pay every month. Orion gives the office back its week and your technicians more of each day for service, so the team you have gets more done.

And you won't set it up alone. As your Tru Partner™, we help you put your scheduling rules into Orion and lay out your first months with you, and we can pair your schedulers with their counterparts at a pest control company that runs on Blu Star.
